AYURVEDA

“The body is a field of energy, information, and intelligence, constantly renewing itself and offering infinite potential for health and healing.”

DISCOVER HOW YOU CAN LEARN AYURVEDA THROUGH DIAN

OUR BODY IS A RIVER OF INFORMATION AND INTELLIGENCE IN CONSTANT AND DYNAMIC EXCHANGE WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of healing originating in the Vedic tradition of ancient India. The word Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayus meaning “life” and veda meaning “wisdom or science.”  Thus, Ayurveda is the “wisdom of life.” The definition of health according to Ayurveda is a state of vibrant balance in which all layers of one’s being are integrated. According to Ayurveda, our body is a river of information and intelligence in constant and dynamic exchange with the environment. This expanded understanding of the dynamic nature of our body-mind leaves room for a vast array of possibilities for healing.

Based on the laws of nature, the wisdom of Ayurveda was cognized by sages through meditation and passed down through the ages. Science is now beginning to understand the world in a way that reflects the ideas of the philosophers of ancient times.

Ayurveda wisdom comes from nature. Ayurveda teaches that everything in nature is made up of a unique combination of the five elements – space, air, fire, water, and earth. Each of us is a unique combination of the five elements. Another important aspect of this timeless wisdom is learning to sync with the rhythms of nature. When you honor the natural rhythms in your life – the seasonal rhythms, the lunar cycles, your life cycle, and the daily circadian rhythms – you allow your life to flow rather than struggling against its current.

INDIVIDUALIZED AND PREVENTATIVE

This holistic approach to your health treats you as an individual and a whole person – mind, body, and spirit. In understanding your unique body-mind type (dosha), you gain awareness about yourself and what constitutes balance and imbalance specifically for you. When you are able to recognize signs of imbalance in your body-mind, you can prevent illnesses before the symptoms begin to manifest in the physical body.

HOW CAN AN AYURVEDIC LIFESTYLE BENEFIT YOU?

Today doctors cite stress as a major contributing factor to most illnesses. According to Ayurveda, our bodies and minds react to stress by shifting out of balance, which in the long run creates physical challenges and emotional turbulence, impacting our lives at home, at work, and at play. In time, we find ourselves in non-nourishing, even toxic, lifestyle patterns of living as well as in relating to others.

The first step in bringing Ayurveda into your life is to learn your unique body-mind type, or dosha. Knowing your dosha creates a deeper understanding of yourself and others you are in relationship with. Next you will identify imbalances in your body-mind and learn a variety of natural and intuitive practices to correct the imbalance.

Additionally, you acquire techniques to release toxic emotions and toxic residue in a healthy way so that they don’t build up in your physiology. When toxic emotions or toxic residue accumulate in your body-mind, the flow of energy and information moves sluggishly through your body’s channels of circulation. When energy and information cannot flow efficiently, disease occurs.

Most importantly, as your stress is eliminated with Ayurvedic wisdom, tools, and techniques, you begin to make conscious lifestyle choices that nourish and nurture your unique constitution. Consequently, your mind and body can begin to function with maximum efficiency. When your body and mind are in balance you will experience the healthy changes you are seeking. You will create a state of happiness, joy, connection, and aliveness that creates a vibrant sense of wellbeing.
