How Do You Find Balance These Days? How Do You Stay in Your Light?
This is what some of my clients tell me they are doing ...
One of my clients starts her day with a Metta Meditation of Loving Kindness.
Another one ends her day by writing in a gratitude journal and feeling deeply all the joy of what impacts her life, even those things not quite so welcome.
Several women I know make it a point daily to be with nature, taking in the abundance that nature offers.
I recently presented several lovely women with their Primordial Sound Mantra to develop a daily meditation practice to cope with the stress generated by thoughts aggravated by the provocative content on social media and in the news.
Every day, a few minutes of silence helps others, including myself — no phone, no computer, just time to let the world pass on by without getting involved.
The ancient wisdom teachings of Vedanta, including Ayurveda and Yoga, provide a plethora of tools to support our body-mind to stay in balance during times of turmoil. Kundalini Yoga was brought to the Western world in the late 60s and early 70s to prepare us to discern truth in this predicated time of polarization.
These wisdom teachings of Vedanta are now being validated by science with imaging technology and are recommended by doctors and alternative health care practitioners to help their clients cope with the long-term effects of stress.
Stress is the leading cause of all major diseases in our country:
Cancer
Heart Disease
Diabetes
Strokes
Anxiety
Depression
Premature Aging
Regular activation of the flight/fight response in non-life-threatening situations weakens our health.
I have studied and practiced the ancient wisdom teachings for 30 years now, making them lifestyle habits. As one with a very heightened nervous system, I have dramatically reduced the stress that accumulates with fear, worry, anger, and anxiety through meditation, yoga, pranayama (breathing practices), and honoring my Ayurvedic body-mind constitution.
After some recent lab and imaging tests to rule out health issues, I found out I'm in darn good shape! My doctor said at age 72 I could live another 30 years! I'm grateful for all those preventative tools in my toolbox -- and that I use them!
Consistent use of these wisdom practices prevents my body, mind, and spirit from falling out of balance.
And that’s why I am so passionate about sharing, teaching, and offering practices and classes (both online and in-person). I know they can help all of us let our nervous systems find some relief – take a deep sigh – during this time of turbulence and change.
By incorporating these tools into our daily lives, we become more self-aware, restoring balance to ourselves in a way that not only keeps us healthy but positively impacts the world around us.
It’s also why my colleague Debbie and I created When the Soul Whispers — for your personal healing that can hugely impact collective healing.
A respite from the noise of the outer world ...
Many people are telling us they are longing for a respite from the noise of the outer world right now. What would it be like to escape the daily to-do's, the overcommitting to others by giving yourself five days to explore your inner landscape?
The sanctuary of When the Soul Whispers at Joyful Journey Hot Springs is the ideal remedy for anyone overly scheduled, overly committed, overly booked, over-scrolling, election-weary, or in whatever way you are impacted by the chaos of the world around you.
When the Soul Whispers: A Retreat in Silence
When the Soul Whispers is a space, a place, and a container to shed light on what is truly important to you so that you can bring balance back at this time of your life – in which you get to know the longings of your soul.
It’s an opportunity to allow yourself to take a long deep breath and build connection through silence with like-minded people and the age-old power of the natural world to create healing from the inside out.
When the Soul Whispers is one way to awaken more of your inner light!
This event is in person at Joyful Journey Hot Springs and Spa in south-central Colorado from October 23-27.
